----- CONVOCATORIA A PRESENTACIÓN DE PONENCIAS -----
La filosofía de la técnica abarca un complejo de objetos y problemas que atraviesan la metafísica, la epistemología, la ética y la antropología filosófica, así como la cultura y la sociedad. Ciertos debates recientes en filosofía de la técnica se han concentrado en indagar las cuestiones ontológicas y epistemológicas relacionadas con la dicotomía entre naturaleza y artificialidad.

¿Tiene lo artificial una epistemología propia? ¿Qué clase de cosa son las cosas artificiales? ¿Son diferentes de las clases naturales? ¿Es legítimo utilizar analogías biológicas para comprender el despliegue del mundo técnico y sus cambios? ¿Qué diferencias existen entre el tipo de evolución biológica y el de linajes de artefactos? ¿Cuándo una novedad artificial es una novedad genuina? ¿Cómo conocemos el mundo artificial? ¿Es distinto al modo de acceso al mundo natural? Preguntas como estas forman parte de los programas de investigación -provenientes de la tradición analítica así como continental- en la filosofía de la técnica contemporánea.

El IV ColoquioInternacional de Filosofía de la Técnica pretende abordar éstas y otras cuestiones, y constituirse como un ámbito de encuentro entre dos tradiciones filosóficas: la analítica y la continental, que por diferentes motivos permanecen alejadas entre sí. Bajo el lema de este encuentro, Naturaleza y artificialidad: tensiones, continuidades y rupturas, se pretende reunir trabajos que analicen conceptos clave dentro de los debates contemporáneos concernientes a la técnica, abrir nuevas vías de indagación dentro de la disciplina y fortalecer el crecimiento y la colaboración entre los investigadores dedicados a analizar el fenómeno de la técnica.

-Se convoca a la presentación de ponencias de 30 minutos de duración. Se aceptarán ponencias sobre los siguientes temas, aunque se considerará cualquier propuesta situada dentro del campo de la filosofía de la técnica:
-Metafísica del mundo artificial.

-Epistemología del fenómeno técnico.

-Normatividad y técnica.

-Fenomenología del mundo técnico.

-Mundo técnico y posthumanismo.

-Mundo técnico y política.

*Las propuestas para ponencias deberán enviarse a la dirección electrónica coloquiofdt@gmail.com con dos documentos adjuntos (formato .doc, .pdf, o .rtf) que contengan:

(1) Un resumen ampliado de aproximadamente 2000 palabras que presente el título de la ponencia y que indique con claridad el esquema argumentativo del trabajo (aquí se debe incluir la especificación del problema abordado, la tesis y la bibliografía).
(2) Un detalle de los datos del autor del trabajo: nombre y apellido, pertenencia institucional, y dirección electrónica.

*El nombre y la pertenencia institucional del autor deberán consignarse sólo en el segundo documento. Los resúmenes recibidos serán sometidos a referato ciego por especialistas designados por el comité organizador. Este último se reserva el derecho de solicitar el trabajo completo si así fuese necesario.
*Fecha límite para la recepción de resúmenes: 20 de agosto.
*Fecha de comunicación de aceptación/rechazo: 30 de agosto.

Nature and artificiality: Tensions, continuities and ruptures. 26, 27 and 28 September 2013. Buenos Aires, Argentina.

The philosophy of technology encompasses a complex set of objects and problems that traverse metaphysics, epistemology, ethics and philosophical anthropology, as well as encompassing cultural and social dimensions. Certain recent debates in the philosophy of technology have focused on investigating ontological and epistemological issues around the dichotomy between nature and artificiality.

Does the artificial deserve its own epistemology? What kind of thing is an artificial thing? Are there artificial kinds distinct from natural kinds? Is it legitimate to use biological analogies to understand the technical world and its developmental processes? What are the differences between biological evolution and the production of artifactual lineages? When is a technological novelty a genuine novelty? How can we know the artificial world? Does it have a different means of access than the natural world, assuming we can make this distinction? Questions like these form the backbone of numerous research programs in contemporary philosophy of technology, both in the analytic and continental traditions.

The IV International Colloquium on the Philosophy of Technology seeks to address these and other issues, and establish itself as an area of contact between different traditions and programs. The heading for this year’s meeting, Nature and Artificiality: tensions, continuities and ruptures, aims to bring together papers that debate and analyze key concepts in contemporary debates concerning technology, thus opening new avenues of inquiry within the discipline, and strengthening disciplinary growth and the collaboration between researchers with similar preoccupations.

We call for 30-minute presentations. Papers will be accepted on the following topics, although any proposal within the field of philosophy of technology will be considered:

Metaphysics of the artificial world
Epistemology of the technical phenomenon.
Normativity and technology
Phenomenology of the technical world
Technology and posthumanism
Technology and politics

The philosophy of technology involves a complex of objects and problems that traverse metaphysics, epistemology, ethics and philosophical anthropology, as well as culture and society. Some recent discussions in the philosophy of technology have focused on the elucidation of the ontological, normative and epistemic dimensions of artificial worlds. What criteria do we apply to characterize an artifact as a ‘good’ artifact? What does the term ‘good’ mean when applied to the artificial world? What are the features of moral evaluations of the artificial world? When is an artificial novelty a genuine novelty? How do we know the artificial world? Do author and user find themselves in two different epistemic positions? Does the artificial have its own epistemology? What class of thing are artificial things? Are they different from natural kinds? Questions like these are found in research programs in both Continental and Analytic traditions in the philosophy of contemporary technology.

The Third International Colloquium for Philosophy of Technology aims to address these and other issues, and to establish itself as an area of ​​contact between two philosophical traditions: Analytic and Continental, which for various reasons remain apart. Under the theme of this meeting, Technical worlds: Ontological, Epistemological and Normative Aspects of Artificiality, it aims to bring together papers examining key concepts in contemporary debates concerning technology, opening new avenues of inquiry within the discipline, and strengthening the growth and collaboration between researchers devoted to the analysis of the phenomenon of technology.

The philosophy of technology encompasses a range of objects and problems spanning metaphysics, epistemology, ethics, philosophical anthropology, and the study of culture and society. Some recent debates in the philosophy of technology have focused on the notion of “artefact” and its relation to human agency and intentionality. On one hand, the analytical tradition has shown a growing interest in the ontology of artefacts, departing from the central axiom that binds them constitutively to the intentions of designers and users. On the other hand, other trends in the philosophy of technology, as well as in the disciplines of history, sociology and anthropology, have stressed the autonomous nature of technology, its independence from human intentions and designs. The notions of control, design and intention also involve important ethical dimensions concerning the relationship between humans and their, often unfaithful, creations. Can we conceive of an ontology of artefacts? What should be its basis? Should “technical” actions be considered analytically distinct from other types of human action? What is the metaphysics of technical mediation? How can we think human agency and action in the context of a densely technified world?

The Second International Colloquium on the Philosophy of Technology aims to address these and other issues, and to establish itself as a meeting area between two philosophical traditions (analytic and Continental) that for various reasons remain distant. Under the theme of this meeting, "Artefacts, intentions and technical agency", we aim to bring together works that examine the key topics of contemporary debates in the philosophy of technology, as well as open new avenues of inquiry within the subdiscipline.

The papers should fit into a 30-minute presentation. Papers will be accepted on the following topics, although any proposal within the philosophy of technology will be considered.

- The ontology of artifacts and the metaphysics of technology
- Symbolic artifacts
- “Material agency” and the ontological proposals of actor-network theory.
- Human agency in a technical context
- Phenomenology and metaphysics of technical action
- Agency, responsibility and the ethical dimensions of technical action.

La filosofía de la técnica abarca un complejo de objetos y problemas que atraviesan la metafísica, la epistemología, la ética y la antropología filosófica, así como la cultura y la sociedad. Ciertos debates recientes en la filosofía de la técnica se han concentrado alrededor de la noción de “artefacto” y de su relación con la intencionalidad y agencia humanas. Por un lado, la tradición analítica ha mostrado un creciente interés en la ontología de los artefactos, partiendo de un axioma central que los liga constitutivamente a las intenciones de creadores y usuarios. Por otro lado, otras corrientes en la filosofía de la técnica, la historia, la sociología y la antropología han enfatizado la naturaleza autónoma de la tecnología, su independencia de intenciones y diseños humanos. Las nociones de control, diseño e intención también implican importantes dimensiones éticas, en lo que concierne a la relación entre humanos y sus, a menudo infieles, creaciones. ¿Se puede concebir una ontología de los artefactos? ¿Cuáles serían sus bases? ¿Hay “acciones técnicas” que deben ser consideradas analíticamente distintas de otro tipo de acciones humanas? ¿Cuál es la metafísica de la mediación técnica? ¿En qué modo pueden pensarse las acciones humanas en el contexto de un mundo progresivamente tecnificado?

El II Coloquio Internacional de Filosofía de la Técnica pretende abordar éstas y otras cuestiones, y constituirse como un ámbito de encuentro entre dos tradiciones filosóficas: la analítica y la continental, que por diferentes motivos permanecen alejadas entre sí. Bajo el lema de este encuentro, “Artefactos, intenciones y agencia técnicas”, se aspira a reunir trabajos que analicen conceptos clave dentro de los debates contemporáneos concernientes a la técnica y a abrir nuevas vías de indagación dentro de la disciplina.

CONVOCATORIA A PRESENTACIÓN DE PONENCIAS

La filosofía de la tecnología constituye un ámbito de trabajo filosófico consolidado, atravesado por interrogantes metafísicos, epistemológicos y axiológicos. Una parte importante del debate contemporáneo gira en torno a cuestiones como qué clase de cosa son los artefactos, cómo los conocemos y qué valores incorporan. Este I Coloquio Internacional de Filosofía de la Técnica tiene como propósito discutir sobre la naturaleza de los objetos técnicos, los modos en que pensamos sobre sus funciones y las formas en que abordamos los valores que incorporan. Asimismo, el coloquio pretende constituirse como un ámbito de encuentro entre dos tradiciones filosóficas, la analítica y la continental, que por diferentes motivos permanecen alejadas entre sí. Bajo el lema del encuentro (“Lo artificial y lo viviente en la filosofía de la tecnología actual”) se aspira a reunir trabajos que analicen desde los orígenes filosóficos de la distinción entre lo viviente y lo artificial hasta los diferentes problemas filosóficos que se nuclean alrededor de dicha divisoria.

* Se convoca a la presentación de ponencias de 30-40 minutos de duración. Para ello, deberá enviarse a la dirección electrónica coloquiofdt@gmail.com dos documentos adjuntos (formato .doc, .pdf, o .rtf) que contengan:
